The full answer
Live events drive the Achology learning experience. VALTS workshops, principle-based discussions, hot seat coaching sessions, PALS practice, and mentorship groups all happen live — and they all count toward your CPD journey. Knowing how to find, RSVP to, and join them smoothly makes the difference between consistent engagement and missed opportunities.
Finding events
Open the Achology community on Circle and navigate to the events space or academy calendar in the left-hand sidebar. You’ll see a chronological list of upcoming events, each showing the title, date, time (displayed in your local time zone if you’ve set it in your profile), host name, and a brief description.
Click any event title to read the full description. This tells you the format (which type of VALTS or PALS), the topic or focus area, who’s hosting, and any preparation you might want to do beforehand. Below the description, you can post questions or comments about the session before it starts.
RSVPing
Click the RSVP button next to any event you want to attend. This does three things for you:
Confirms your spot. The host can see who’s planning to attend, which helps them prepare appropriately for group size.
Triggers reminders. You’ll receive an email and an in-app notification approximately one hour before the event starts. On mobile, this arrives as a push notification — hard to miss if you’ve enabled notifications for the Circle app.
Unlocks calendar sync. After RSVPing, you’ll see an option to add the event to your personal calendar. Use it. A calendar entry with the join link built in means you don’t need to log into Circle at start time to find the link — it’s already sitting in your schedule.
Joining the event
When the event starts, you have several ways to join:
Through the event page. Navigate to the event inside Circle and click the join link under the “Location” heading in the right sidebar. On the mobile app, you’ll find this link under the “Virtual” heading at the top of the event description.
Through your calendar invite. If you added the event to your calendar, open the calendar entry and click the join link directly. This is often the fastest route — no need to navigate through Circle first.
Through the notification. When the host goes live, Circle sends an in-app notification you can tap to join immediately.
Through the live banner. Once a session goes live, a banner appears in the bottom-left corner of the Circle interface inviting you to join — even if you didn’t RSVP. Click “Join stream” to enter. This acts as a safety net for events you forgot to RSVP to or spontaneously decide to attend.
CPD tracking happens automatically
Every VALTS session you participate in gets recorded and allocated to your member CPD journey account. You don’t need to log attendance manually or submit paperwork. The system tracks your participation, so your development record builds naturally as you engage. PALS credits work slightly differently depending on the session type — some allocate credits for hosting or coaching rather than attending — but the tracking process remains automatic.
Getting the most from events
RSVP early. Hosts prepare differently for five attendees versus fifteen. Your RSVP helps them deliver a better session.
Show up on time. Late arrivals disrupt the flow, especially in practice-based formats like skill development workshops and hot seat coaching. Aim to join a minute or two early.
Participate actively. The members who develop fastest ask questions, volunteer for practice exercises, share their real challenges, and offer honest feedback. Passive observation has value, but active participation has far more.
Use camera when appropriate. Many formats expect participants to have cameras on, particularly practice sessions and hot seat coaching. Check the event description for guidance — some formats work fine camera-off, but active practice sessions expect visible presence.
If you miss an event
Missing a session isn’t the end of the world. New VALTS and PALS events run regularly — often daily. Check the calendar for the next relevant session and RSVP straight away so you don’t lose momentum. There’s always another opportunity to engage.
Next step
Open the academy calendar in the Achology community right now, find an event that interests you this week, and hit RSVP. Then add it to your personal calendar so the join link is ready when the time comes.
