How do I create posts in the Achology community?

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

Navigate to any discussion space in the Achology community on Circle, click “New Post” in the upper right corner, write your content, and hit “Publish post.” You can format text, embed media, tag members, and edit your post after publishing.

The short answer

  • Head to any discussion space and click “New Post” (upper right corner)
  • Use the rich text editor to format your content, add images, embed videos, and tag members
  • Type a forward slash (/) in the post body to see all formatting options
  • Publish immediately, save as draft, or schedule for a later date
  • Edit any time by clicking the three-dot menu (•••) on your post

The full answer

Contributing to discussions is one of the most valuable things you can do in the Achology community. Sharing insights from your courses, asking questions, reflecting on practice experiences, and responding to other members’ posts all deepen your learning and strengthen the community for everyone. Here’s how the posting tools work.

Creating your first post

Open any discussion space in the left-hand sidebar — not every space accepts posts, but discussion spaces always do. Click “New Post” in the upper right corner. This opens Circle’s rich text editor where you can write, format, and enhance your content before publishing.

The editor works much like any word processor. Type your text, then use the toolbar to apply formatting — bold, italic, headings, bullet lists, numbered lists, and block quotes. You can also embed links, which Circle automatically converts into clickable previews.

The forward slash shortcut

This is worth remembering: type a forward slash (/) anywhere in the body of your post. Circle opens a dropdown menu showing every content block available — headings, bullet lists, images, video embeds, file attachments, PDF embeds, social post embeds, dividers, and more. It’s faster than hunting through toolbar icons, and it reveals options you might not know exist.

Tagging and mentioning members

Type @ followed by a member’s name to tag them directly in your post. They’ll receive a notification that you’ve mentioned them, which draws their attention to the conversation. Use this when you want a specific person’s input, when you’re referencing something someone else shared, or when you want to publicly acknowledge a contribution.

Tag thoughtfully — mentioning someone in every post dilutes the signal. Save it for moments where their attention genuinely adds value.

Adding media

You can drop images, videos, GIFs, PDFs, and file attachments directly into your post. Drag and drop works, or use the forward slash menu to insert specific media types. Circle also supports embedded content from external platforms — paste a YouTube link, for example, and it’ll render as an embedded player within your post.

This makes posts versatile. Share a reflection alongside a relevant diagram. Embed a video you found illuminating. Attach a PDF resource that other members might benefit from. Richer posts generate richer discussions.

Publishing options

When your post is ready, you have three choices:

Publish immediately. Click “Publish post” and it goes live in the space. Members with notifications enabled for that space will see it straight away.

Save as draft. Click the downward arrow next to the publish button and select “Save as draft.” Your post stores privately until you’re ready to finish and publish. Useful for longer reflections you want to refine over a day or two.

Schedule for later. The same dropdown lets you schedule a publication time. If you want your post to land when the community is most active, schedule it for a peak engagement window rather than posting at 3am your time.

Editing after publishing

Made a typo? Want to add a thought you forgot? Click the three-dot menu (•••) in the upper right corner of your published post and select “Edit post.” Your changes save immediately. Circle doesn’t flag edited posts prominently, so minor corrections won’t draw attention.

What makes a good community post

The posts that generate the most meaningful engagement tend to share something specific — a real question from your VALTS experience, a challenge you’re facing in practice, an insight that shifted your thinking, or a reflection on something from your course material that you want to explore with others.

Vague posts like “Great session today!” get polite responses. Posts like “Today’s skill development workshop made me realise I default to advice-giving instead of reflective questioning — has anyone else noticed this in their practice?” start genuine conversations that advance everyone’s learning.

Next step

Open the Achology community, pick a discussion space relevant to what you’re currently studying, and write your first post today. Share a question, a reflection, or something you’ve been thinking about since your last session.
